New ICMM Publication
The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) has released a new publication, 'Metals Environmental Risk Assessment Guidance' (MERAG), as a result of a three-year project which has developed a comprehensive set of the most advanced and appropriate scientific concepts for assessing the environmental risks posed by metals and inorganic metal compounds.

Launch of Leading Practice Sustainable Development Booklets
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources (DITR) have now launched 7 handbooks in a series of 14 of the Leading Practice Sustainable Development Program.

• Biodiversity Management
• Managing Acid and Metalliferous Drainage
• Tailings Management
• Working with Indigenous Communities

The next booklets scheduled for completion are Cyanide Management, Water Management, and Risk Assessment and Management. These handbooks will be published early in 2008.
